RTS SAP 612 System
The PRG RTS SAP 612 Engineer Rack augments the way PRG approaches large show communication needs and is one of the building blocks that make up a large show communication system. It includes all the components to have six discreet channels of intercom supplied from this control rack. It operates as a stand-alone system providing the multiple choices of channel configuration; as well as, provides two system interfaces to integrate an external intercom system with this rack or convert two channels of communication into a four-wire format.
The system includes:
- RTS PS31 power supplies
- RTS SAP 612 matrix
- RTS MCE-325 master station
- RTS SSA-424 digital hybrid
MATRIX
The RTS SAP 612 Matrix provides 12 assignable output matrixes, to be uniquely assigned on show site. In addition to these 12 matrix outputs the system has been pre-wired to include six fixed outputs, which include 1/1, 2/1, 3/1, 4/1, 5/1, and 6/1. These have been established for users that are likely to only need a fixed assignment. They have been implemented in this fashion to help the engineer distribute the power consumption across all six channels of power by assigning the alternate channel first forcing those packs to draw power from the alternate channel. In this scenario it is assumed that channel 1 is the primary production channel that most all users will need.
INTERFACE
Included in this system are two RTS SSA-424 digital hybrid interfaces. These interfaces allow the engineer several options to integrate outside components with this system. They provide the ability to convert any RTS two-wire feed into a four-wire feed to access non-powered intercom matrixes. The interfaces also allow interface between Clear-Com, Telex Audiocom and RTS. This is useful to interconnect with a venue system, if the venue already has intercom installed to followspots, house light control, dressing mrooms or any other location the show requires communication.
INPUT / OUTPUT
The custom I/O panel allows engineers to quickly connect four Whirlwind W1 12-pair multi-cables to this system for easy distribution of all intercom channels. In addition to these multi-cables the panel includes 12 local XLR outputs (normal to the SAP 612). There are a pair of 4-pin XLR connections to route all six channels of RTS intercom to an external location (such as a two-wire to four-wire hybrid to integrate these intercom channels in a Riedel matrix). Additionally, there are XLR connections for the six fixed assignment outputs as described in the MATRIX section. There are also six XLR connections that have been transformer balanced to provide dry audio output from all six channels. These are available to create an IFB, route a channel of intercom to a self-powered speaker (if a speaker station is needed with no talk capability) or to record intercom as needed. Available on the rear panel is a connection to route Program Audio to pair 12 of all Whirlwind multi-cables.
