PRG’s Bad Boy takes to the road.

The Challenge: Provide a lighting system that would fit into multiple different types of venues without compromising the overall look of the show.

The Solution: For global tour support from a Roman amphitheatre in Vienne, France to stadiums in South America, lighting designer Rob Gawler turned to PRG’s Concert Touring group.

PRG not only provided Gawler with the gear and crew support, but they also provided him with a brand new tool for his design arsenal—the PRG Bad Boy® Luminaire. “The Bad Boy was just what I had been looking for—a big bright large-format luminaire, that could be used as a narrow washlight with a couple of gobos as a bonus,” explains Gawler. “The units worked great ‘out of the case’ and I was pleasantly surprised to find how many different beam looks you could really get out of the unit.”

For Oasis, Gawler wanted a design that would fit into a number of different size and type venues without compromising the overall look. “I knew I wanted to use a selection of contemporary fixtures but create a look that is reminiscent of a more progressive, psychedelic period.”

Gawler designed the Oasis tour keeping a careful eye on the global travel factor. “I tried to create a simple, striking look being mindful of environmental and freight cost implications. I used stock items that would be readily available in rental inventories around the world in order to have a consistent show in every territory, without lumbering the production with a huge freight bill and a logistical nightmare.”

Gawler enjoyed working with PRG stating, “It was an exciting design challenge and PRG’s Concert Touring group has been fantastic to work with; they have provided good kit, fantastic crew and great support.”
