PRG gets the show on the road — with all the comforts of home.
Challenge:
Seamlessly coordinate a five-day event in a distant venue.
Solution:
Setting up a corporate event takes coordination — and Canadian Tire’s 2006 Annual Dealer Convention was especially complex: more than 50 hours of meetings and entertainment over five days and nights, capped with a gala, stage show and fireworks display synchronized to music. Adding to the challenge: No CAD drawings were available for the venue, a new convention center in Edmonton, Alberta — half a continent from the designer’s home base in Toronto.
“I knew we would need to make some major adjustments on site and set up time would be extremely tight,” recalls designer James Downey of Fullerton Productions. That’s why Downey’s first call was to PRG’s account executive David James. PRG supplied, installed and operated the technical systems for the event based on Downey’s concepts, working with him to put together an automated lighting package. PRG also provided a video package with a 16′ x 9′ video wall, four 10,000 lumen projectors, and three cameras with live switching, as well as a high-quality EAW line-array audio system.
“Using PRG as the sole source, I was able to get the process started with just one phone call,” recalls Downey.
Downey, James and the rest of the PRG crew arrived in Edmonton with two railroad cars and a semi-trailer truck filled with equipment - and barely two days to set it up. Still, Downey was confident. “I knew I could rely on PRG, and I was right. It all came together flawlessly. It was a really great show.”
