PRG’s in-house innovation brings cutting edge technology to corporate events and trade shows.

The Challenge: Supply and install a lighting package that offers creative flexibility while cutting costs.

The Solution:  When Heidelberg’s marketing team approached PRG’s Corporate & Trade Show Services group, they knew they could trust PRG to provide the highest quality technology and service. At PRINT® 09, the largest, most comprehensive trade show for the print media industry, Heidelberg’s booth encompassed 30,000 sq. ft. at Chicago’s McCormick Place. To help minimize labor costs and set-up time, PRG recommended their proprietary Series 400™ Power and Data Distribution System to lighting designer Jim Terry and master electrician Kerry Keenan.

The lighting plot for the Heidelberg booth included 140 automated lights.  The Series 400 system cut the cable requirement and associated labor time in half by delivering both the power and the data in a single cable solution. Using three S400 racks with 208V modules and breakout boxes, all 140 automated fixtures were hung, cabled and tested in only two and a half days with a four-person crew. Heidelberg’s labor costs were reduced by over 50% from previous years.

As well as providing the lighting, PRG also supplied the audio and the plasma displays for live PowerPoint presentations. PRG’s Corporate and Trade Show Services provided its client with a turnkey system that controlled costs without compromising design.

“Working within the restrictions of a very tight budget, PRG was able to produce lighting and audio for our booth that in no way diminished the visitor’s perception of Heidelberg,” said Mark Wendling, Director, Marketing Communications for Heidelberg USA. “We were absolutely satisfied with their work. We have been with them of over 10 years now, so we knew that they were right for this job.”
