PRG’s world-wide presence responds to production needs globally.
The Challenge: PRG was asked to coordinate and support the Opening Ceremonies of the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games, overcoming both language barriers and complex production challenges.
The Solution: PRG was among the companies tapped to support Full Flood and Lighting Designer Bob Dickinson for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games held in Shanghai in 2008. The ceremonies marked the first time the Special Olympics World Summer Games were held in Asia and only the second time they were outside the US. The event was held in the 80,000-seat Shanghai Stadium, with a worldwide broadcast audience.
PRG provided a crew of 14, including programmers and technicians, who worked along side the other international production staff and Chinese crews. The equipment package included approximately 3000 various fixtures and devices. Control, supplied by PRG, was handled by three Virtuoso® consoles. “The Virtuoso is an incredibly solid platform,”Dickinson says. “This platform can comfortably control 1,000 lights. And, the way the information is distributed is extremely dependable. We did not have any problem getting data moved around the stadium.”The production also employed PRG Series 400® Power and Data Distribution racks.
