PRG sets the scene for magical memories.
Challenge:
Add multicultural holiday images to a popular, themed venue.
Solution:
Kids expect an extraordinary experience when they check into the new Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holiday Inn® in Orlando. That goes double during the holiday season, when youngsters and their families look forward to special, themed activities, shows, and encounters with stars from the network’s TV lineup.
To set the stage for the 2005 festivities — the hotel’s first — PRG created a magical environment based on the undersea world of SpongeBob SquarePants. Guests arrived at a porte-cochere, framed with seaweed-green topiaries spiraling up from bright-yellow spongelike bases and decorated with multitudes of clear, shiny bubbles.
Inside, guests encountered a fantasy treescape — all-white foliage in unexpected shapes hung with more bubbles and ornaments featuring Nickelodeon characters. The magic continued in the mall, the hotel’s indoor hub, where PRG created a multi-cultural holiday display set on an immense drum decorated in folk motifs recalling Kwanzaa. The drum was topped by three conical brushed-aluminum trees with CNC-routed cutouts in traditional Kwanzaa patterns and colors. Under the trees were seasonal scenes representing Christmas, Hanukkah and Ramadan.
PRG also provided the rank of wooden soldiers that lined the entrance to Studio Nick, the state-of-the-art theatre in the mall, along with the sets, scenery, lighting and props for the theatre’s live shows.
“Wherever they went, guests experienced iconic holiday images they all could enjoy,” says Jerry Abercrombie, PRG’s director of business development. “It spread a message filled with hope, joy and peace.”
