Director of Technical Design, Scenic
Based in PRG’s New York scenic operations, Jim leads a talented group of designers and engineers in providing mechanical and structural solutions for Broadway shows, national tours, industrial shows, themed attractions, rock & roll tours, architectural installations, and special events.
Jim joined PRG’s scenic operations in 1997. He had previously worked as an art director and union studio mechanic in film and television as well as being a technical director, stagehand, and propman in live theatre. Jim has a BFA in set design from Carnegie Mellon and an MFA in Technical Design from Yale University.
Since joining PRG, Jim has designed effects for over 200 projects including: 42nd Street, Wicked, The Producers, Contact, Suessical, Ragtime, Titanic, Sweet Smell of Success, Lion King, Parade, Follies, Phantom of the Opera, Little Shop of Horrors, We Will Rock You, All Shook Up, Light in the Piazza, Pirate Queen, Storm, Xanadu, Lestat, Tarzan, Full Monty, Dance of the Vampires, Sinatra, Amour, Frogs, Aida, Riverdance, Sondheim Celebration, Coast of Utopia, the Republican National Convention, and the Salt Lake City Olympics.
Corporate clients have included: Chrysler, Toyota, Ford, General Motors, Dodge, Nissan, Infinity, Lexus, Mercedes, Hyundai, Subaru, Honda, Pfizer, MTV, VH1, Macy’s, McDonald’s, Victoria’s Secret, Glaxo, Lennox, Rockwell, and the USA Network.
