Bad Boy goes stateside with U2
U2’s 360° Tour, kicking off in Chicago on September 12th, boasts the largest touring structure ever. Show Director/Designer Willie Williams’ goal was to provide audiences with a truly unique visual experience. Working closely with Production Architect/Designer Mark Fisher and Production Director Jake Berry, Williams has realized that goal. The size of the set created a challenge for Williams in that the lighting fixture positions are unusually far from the stage, ranging from 100 feet to as much as 400 feet. He selected the PRG Bad Boy luminaire because it had the brightness to handle the distances and at the same time provided features such as zoom (8° to56°) and gobos. Williams said, “There is no way you could use old school moving lights, plus I needed a light that would not just reach and wash but would be able to have texture. I think it is fair to say they are absolutely remarkable.”
