Wacken Open Air

Every year for the past thirty years, on the first weekend in August, metal fans from all over the world gather in the small community of Wacken, Northern Germany. With around 75,000 visitors, the Wacken Open Air is now one of the largest metal festivals in the world. PRG has been part of the festival for 17 years now, taking care of the entire lighting and LED technology, as well as the rigging. Holger Hübner (Founder and Organizer, Wacken Open Air) is thrilled about the trusting cooperation: "The main goals are that we have fun, create a cool event and everyone gets something out of it. PRG, us and all staff - and above all, our fans.".

If it were up to lighting designer Jerry Appelt, the collaboration would be continued for at least 13 more years, so that WOA, Jerry Appelt Lighting Design and PRG can celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of their fantastic collaboration in 2032. It won't fail because of the festival's success; tickets for WOA 2020 were already sold out within 21 hours.
