Mbox® Mini v4 is the most cost-effective version of Mbox media server software. Mini focuses on providing the right tools for 2D playback and compositing, in a compact footprint, for an unbeatable price. Mbox Mini can have up to 6 playback layers, 32 outputs with 6 output masters, and 2 video inputs. Like all members of the Mbox family, Mini includes the single-layer crossfading that makes Mbox so easy to use and fast to program. Mini offers substantial power and versatility, operating identically to the other Mbox software versions in playback, effects, and transition functions, and easily meets the needs of small to medium shows or installations that only require 2D content manipulation.
- 6 playback layers for 2D content, all with single-layer crossfade
- Up to 32 outputs, with a maximum of 6 independent output masters: Levels, Effects, Keystone, and Shutter
- Flexible output resolutions (up to 3840x1200 at 60Hz) from built-in and Blackmagic devices
- Total output size is limited to 4.6 million pixels - 3840x1200 (all outputs combined)

Mbox Director, a GUI control application for the Mbox media server products, can be downloaded and used for free. Director allows users to configure and control all aspects of Mbox content and playback from any Mac computer. Moving light consoles can also be used to control Mbox v4; fixture profiles exist for most popular consoles.
Mbox Mini v4 can be used on any Apple® Mac® computer with an Intel 64-bit processor, running macOS 10.10 Yosemite through 10.14 Mojave. (Note: Versions of Mbox prior to v4.3.2 are not compatible with macOS 10.14 Mojave.) For evaluation purposes, the Mbox Mini v4 software will run in demo mode with only minor limitations until a license is purchased. We always recommend testing the software on your computer prior to purchasing, as hardware setup can have an impact on performance.
Mbox Mini v4 can be licensed with a USB key or a soft-license. To purchase a USB license key, please contact your local PRG office. To purchase a soft-license key, please click on the button below.
If you would like to purchase an upgrade from Mini v3 to Mini v4, please DO NOT purchase a new license for Mini v4. Instead, please contact your local PRG office or email: MboxSupport@prg.com. Proof of original purchase may be required for upgrade eligibility.
Until a license is purchased, Mbox Mini can run in a demo mode with only minor limitations.
We strongly recommend testing on your computer prior to purchasing.
Purchases made by clicking the button above are for an Mbox Mini soft-license with limitations on the number of installations, and not for a USB license key. If you would prefer a USB license key that can be moved to any computer, please contact your local PRG office.
*As of July 1, 2019, the original "EWS" soft-license for Mbox Mini is no longer available for purchase (existing licenses will continue to work). A replacement soft-licensing system, "QLM", has been implemented in the Mbox Mini v4.4 release and will be the only soft-licensing system available for new purchases from July 12, 2019 forwards. Please see the note below in regard to the limitations of the soft-license.
**The Mbox Mini EWS (Mbox 3.6 - 4.3) soft-license allows the software license to be activated on two computers at the same time, but the terms of the End User License Agreement limits use of the software to only one computer at a time. The EWS license grants only two deactivations, limiting the number of times the license can be moved to a new computer (i.e. twice). Once both deactivations and both activations have been used, then a new license must be purchased for use on additional computers. EWS Purchase Terms & Conditions The Mbox Mini QLM (Mbox v4.4 and beyond) soft-license has the same two computer concurrent license limit, and the same usage limits, but allows for unlimited deactivations and subsequent reactivations.
