Mbox® Mini v4 is the most cost-effective version of Mbox media server software. Mini focuses on providing the right tools for 2D playback and compositing, in a compact footprint, for an unbeatable price. Mbox Mini can have up to 6 playback layers, 32 outputs with 6 output masters, and 2 video inputs. Like all members of the Mbox family, Mini includes the single-layer crossfading that makes Mbox so easy to use and fast to program. Mini offers substantial power and versatility, operating identically to the other Mbox software versions in playback, effects, and transition functions, and easily meets the needs of small to medium shows or installations that only require 2D content manipulation.
- 6 playback layers for 2D content, all with single-layer crossfade
- Up to 32 outputs, with a maximum of 6 independent output masters: Levels, Effects, Keystone, and Shutter
- Flexible output resolutions (up to 3840x1200 at 60Hz) from built-in and Blackmagic devices
- Total output size is limited to 4.6 million pixels - 3840x1200 (all outputs combined)
- Playback of 4K content
- Up to 2 video inputs from QuickTime, Blackmagic, or Active Silicon devices
- Audio playback with independent volume control on every layer
- Syphon input and output
- Art-Net and sACN input/output for control and pixel mapping
- Up to 3600 pixels for pixel mapping
Mbox Mini can be used on both big and small productions because it has power and flexibility but also allows for simple operation and programming. Mbox Director, a simple yet sophisticated GUI application for the Mbox media server products can be downloaded and used for free. Director allows users to configure and control all aspects of Mbox (Designer/Studio/Mini) playback and composition from any Mac computer. Alternatively, a moving light console may be used to control Mbox v4; fixture profiles exist for popular consoles.
Mbox Mini v4 can be used on any Apple® Mac® computer that has an Intel 64-bit processor, running OSX 10.9 Mavericks or any newer version of the Mac operating system. For evaluation purposes, the Mbox Mini v4 software can be run in demo mode until a license is purchased. We always recommend testing the software on your computer prior to purchasing as hardware setups can have an impact on performance.
Mbox Mini v4 can be licensed with a USB key that can be moved to any computer an unlimited number of times, or with a soft-license that has restrictions on the number of activations and deactivation. If you would like to purchase a USB license key for Mbox Mini v4, please contact your local PRG office. A soft-license can be purchased by clicking the button below or directly through the Mbox Mini application. Please see the note** below in regard to the limitations of the soft-license.
If you would like to purchase an upgrade from Mini v3 to Mini v4, please DO NOT purchase a new license for Mini v4. Instead, please contact your local PRG office or email: MboxSupport@prg.com. Proof of original purchase may be required for upgrade eligibility.
Until a license is purchased, Mbox Mini will run in a limited demo mode.
We recommend testing it on your computer prior to purchasing.
*Purchases made through the Mbox Mini application or by clicking on the purchase button above will redirect you to the Mbox Mini Web Store. Purchases made on the Web Store are for a soft-license with limitations on the number of installations, and not for a USB license key. If you would prefer a USB license key that can be moved to any computer, please contact your local PRG office.
**The Mbox Mini soft-license allows the software license to be activated on two computers at the same time, but the terms of the End User License Agreement limits use of the software to only one computer at a time. Only two deactivations are granted, limiting the number of times the license can be moved to a new computer (i.e. twice). Once both deactivations and both activations have been used, then a new license must be purchased for use on additional computers.
