Stadium Lighting Project: Belgium vs Liechtenstein 2025

For the international football match between Belgium and Liechtenstein on 18 November 2025, the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) approached us with an urgent request to create a four minute stadium light show during the opening ceremony. Despite the short timeline and strict operational constraints, we delivered an energetic, music driven visual performance that enhanced the match experience at Standard Liège’s stadium.

Collaboration and Preparation

To realise this sports event show lighting project, we collaborated with our technical partner PRG Belgium. Their support allowed us to set up a compact but impactful lighting system that fit within the limited time, budget and the logistical restrictions for this live football event.

The show benefited greatly from PWL’s earlier 2023 stadium lighting upgrade with Signifyat Standard Liège. This modern LED infrastructure allowed PWL to seamlessly integrate and program the additional show lighting combined with the available Signify LEDs and contributed to a cohesive visual look across the entire venue.

Challenges

Producing a light show inside an active football stadium comes with unique challenges such as sightlines for supporters, ongoing broadcast interviews, emergency exits, and strict security regulations all limited the available space and creative freedom.

Technical Setup

Within the allowed setup, PRG installed 32 Cameo Oron moving heads and 8 GLP JDC Burst 1 strobes on low trusses placed in two corners of the field. This compact rig formed the backbone of the stadium light show while keeping all sightlines and safety routes clear.

The performance was fully synchronized with the live act by Bacha and The Band, who combined a deejay set with a full live band. Their rhythmic set created the base for our time coded lighting sequence, supported by a live feed on the stadium screens to connect the crowd with the performance.

Result

Despite the short preparation window, PWL delivered a high energy, music synced light show, tailored to the Standard Liège stadiums specifications. By combining and programming the stadium lighting system with the PRG’s additional fixtures, we created a smooth and memorable visual moment that amplified the celebration of Belgium’s convincing and impressive seven to zero victory.
