Since opening at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre in 2006, Wicked has become one of the West End’s most enduring and beloved productions.

For the past 20 years, PRG has supported the show as its lighting supplier, working alongside its production and creative teams to maintain the technology behind the world of Oz across thousands of performances.

Evolving the lighting system

While the production audiences know and love has remained consistent, the technology supporting it has continued to evolve.

Most recently, the show completed a full transition from a lamp-based lighting rig to an all-LED system. The change was delivered without the loss of a single performance, allowing the production to continue its regular schedule throughout the transition.

Production Electrician Pete Lambert played a central role in making this possible. His technical knowledge of the production, developed across its long-running residency at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, helped ensure the new system could be introduced while preserving the established lighting design.

Reaching 20 years in the West End reflects the work of generations of people behind the production, both on stage and behind the scenes.
