An internship with PRG may encompass any or all aspects of event production including lighting, audio, video, scenic, finance, business and production management, or corporate operations. 

During your internship with PRG, you can expect to enjoy the same high level of attention we give to all of our staff including mentoring, support, and practical evaluations and feedback from seasoned professionals. 

From day one, you will learn what its like to be a vital part of a professional and highly respected team of event production experts while discovering which areas of event production are best suited to your skills and aspirations.

PRG offers a variety of internship programs available at many of our office locations.  While many of our internships are three months in length and are available during the summer,  longer internships may be available throughout the year;  the length and times available are location specific, so you can choose the type of internship that best suits your interests.

It is preferred, but not required, that applicants be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, have recently received a degree in theater technology or a related program, or have a combination of education and experience appropriate to professional/technical development in technical theater or entertainment technology. Most importantly, applicants should be willing to learn and ready to work hard as a team player.

Lighting Internships

In the PRG/VER Lighting internship, in addition to operation tasks, your hands-on technical experience will include testing, repairing and maintaining equipment in the following departments: cable, dimmers, consoles, conventional and automated fixtures, rigging, special effects, and film/video.

Audio Internships

In the PRG Audio internship, in addition to operations tasks, your hands-on technical experience will include testing, repairing, and maintaining equipment in the following departments: house PA cabinets and wedge monitors, house PA amplifier and monitor amplifier racks, speaker cabling, A/C distribution, control interface and signal distribution.

Scenic Internships

The PRG Scenic internship is designed to give a student a well-rounded, hands on experience of how a show is executed through the different departments of a modern day scenic shop. Interns rotate through each department (Carpentry, Steel, Machine Shop, Art, Automation, Logistics, Project Management, Design) working alongside seasoned professionals which will guarantee an understanding of team work and how each department affects the final output of a project.

Video Internships

In the PRG/VER Video internship, interns will get an in-depth experience with general video technical testing, repairing, configuring, and building. More focused, but still a well-rounded experience are offered at many locations around the US.

A/V Internships

In the VER A/V internship, in addition to operation tasks, your hands-on technical experience will include testing, repairing and maintaining equipment in the following departments: monitors, projection, video engineering, cable, lighting, rigging, speakers, and microphones!

The A/V interns will directly work with gear and the technicians who maintain/prepare/configure equipment for the corporate industrial market. Not only will interns get to work with the multiple departments that make up A/V, but they will be able to understand how the various departments connect together to Create Extraordinary.

All Department Internships

In the PRG All-Department internship, in addition to operation tasks, your hands-on technical experience can include testing, repairing and maintaining equipment in the all departments including, but not limited to: audio, video, computers, rigging, special effects, lighting, scenic. Interns will have a unique experience to work in multiple disciplines in the All-Department internship. In addition to the hands-on work with equipment, interns may be pulled into logistics, project management, marketing, and other support roles within PRG. Depending on the locations, a focused-track may be considered by the local management team.

Product Managment Internships

In the PRG Product Managment (Lighting) internship, interns will dive deep into new Product Innovation, Fixture Testing, Equipment Databases, System Designs, Product Training, and many other support roles. Based in Secaucus, NJ interns will be brought to on-site visits, concerts, other PRG offices, Broadway theatres, all while meeting a wide range of industry professionals.

Operations Internships

In the PRG/VER Operations Internship, interns will be working with the Operations team who maintains and controls the operational flow and servicing for our shops. In addition to assisting the operations team, interns will be given a unique view into how PRG and VER is able to provide gear, service, and expertise for some of the largest and most advanced productions in the world. Ideal canidates for Operations typically are Stage Management in nature, being able to organize and manage a great number of assests and daily situations.

Production Internships

The PRG Production internship is designed to give the intern a well-rounded, hands on technical experience of how a show is executed through direct interaction with the production crew. Exclusive to Las Vegas, the 9-month internship will provide practical hands-on experience from show prep to show site crew participation. In addition to field production experience, the internship will also include working within relevant departments at PRG such as automated fixtures, technical repair lab, and electronics, providing the necessary educational foundation and practical training in skills required for a touring technician.

AR VR Design Internships

In the PRG AR VR Design Internship, interns will be operating in a fast-paced, creative, social environment and working in PRG’s Mixed Reality Studio, full of the latest and greatest tools. This position will report to Stefaan “Smasher” Desmedt, Creative Technical Director, a veteran in Live Entertainment. Smasher has started a new Live Mixed Reality division for PRG and has done a year’s worth of R&D collaborating with top of the line companies. This position will help develop this process even more and will be trained on several live software programs like Notch and Disguise.

Other Internships

We are always exploring different subjects for our interns, sometimes at the suggestion of the interns themselves. We have held internships in: Scenic Engineering and Design, Scenic Technology, Broadway Project Management, Lighting, Audio, Video, Accounting, CAD Drafting, Graphics, Project Coordination/Management, Staffing, HR, and Operations.
