Check out the Mbox Comparison Chart for more details on the differences between the Mbox Designer, Studio, Studio Plus, and Mini license levels.
Every Mbox license is built around single-layer crossfading, a core feature that keeps programming fast, fluid, and intuitive. Mbox Designer expands on Mbox’s playback, composition, effect, and transition capabilities by adding full 3D functionality plus unlimited pixel mapping and image remapping. With its flexibility and ability to deliver multi layer compositions to multiple surfaces simultaneously, Designer is well suited for TV and film workflows, immersive environments, and large shows that combine video with pixel mapping.
Subscription licenses for Mbox Designer are available as either soft licenses or USB license keys:
- Subscriptions run for one year and cover all new Mbox releases at the subscription level while active.
- Soft license subscriptions allow two concurrent activations—one primary system and one backup or programming machine. License activation and deactivation require an internet connection, and the Mbox software performs periodic online checks for license validity. Soft licenses are delivered electronically and activate immediately upon purchase. Soft-license renewals are handled online.
- USB key subscriptions allow one activation tied to a physical device with no internet connection required during use. These licenses activate the first time the USB key is used with Mbox. USB key renewals are handled manually through a PRG.
Mbox supports macOS 12 Monterey through 26 Tahoe and runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel systems. For evaluation, the Mbox software can be downloaded for free and run in demo mode (with minor limitations) until a subscription is purchased.
